Former Nigerian striker, John Utaka has urged the Super Eagles to find greater motivation as they prepare for the remaining qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on Brila FM’s No Holds Barred with Ifeanyi Udeze, Utaka expressed concern over Nigeria’s current struggles in the qualifiers. “With the kind of talent we have, we shouldn’t be in this position,” he said.

“We need to come together and stay focused on achieving our World Cup dream. We must be determined like other countries.”

“In football, anything can happen. We shouldn’t give up. I still believe we can qualify, but it all depends on how we approach the games ahead,” he added.

Utaka, who netted six goals in 49 appearances for the national team, concluded by challenging the current players to reflect on themselves in preparation for the remaining fixtures in the World Cup Qualifiers.
