Football fans were left amused this week after spotting that Christantus Uche and Fábio Silva shared nearly identical farewell messages on social media following their late summer transfers.

The Nigerian forward completed a deadline-day move from Getafe CF to Crystal Palace on September 3, while Silva left Wolverhampton Wanderers for Borussia Dortmund just days earlier.

Both players published emotional farewell notes thanking their former clubs and supporters, but the messages turned out to be word-for-word the same—apart from the swapped club names.

Silva’s message read:

“When I first arrived at Wolves, I came full of ambition, dreams, and the desire to make a real impact. I know I didn’t come close to meeting the expectations. But football and life are about more than just numbers or moments on the pitch.”

He added: “Now it’s time for a new chapter, but I won’t forget where I’ve been. I’ll always be another supporter of this club. Thank you @wolves. From the bottom of my heart.”

The uncanny similarity quickly went viral, with supporters joking that the players must have relied on ChatGPT or a copy-paste template provided by their agents.

Some fans argued that such generic tributes are now common in football, while others criticized the lack of ]originality, suggesting it reflected poorly on the sincerity of the statements.

Silva, however, moved swiftly to defend himself. The Portuguese striker insisted that he had written his own farewell, even sharing a screenshot from August 22 to prove he had drafted the text well before it was published.

“I do this alone,” he declared, subtly implying that Uche—or his representatives—had copied his work.

The incident has sparked debate across social media, with memes, fan jokes, and critical commentary flooding platforms.
