The stage is set for the 26th edition of the Nestlé Milo Secondary School Basketball Championships National Finals, which tip off in Lagos on June 26, bringing together the best school teams from across Nigeria after a nationwide competition involving more than 13,000 schools.
In the girls’ category, Lanreleke Academy of Osun will face St. Jude’s Amarata Girls Secondary School of Bayelsa in the opening game, while Government Secondary School, Gboko, Ado Grammar School, Urhobo College, and Government Girls College, Bauchi, complete the lineup.
The boys’ division features Father O’Science College, King Amakree Academy, Government Secondary School Gwarinpa Life Camp, Davidhall International College, Family Support Programme Secondary School, and Urhobo College.
Speaking at the draw ceremony, Nestlé Milo Category Manager, Gilbert Tweneboah-Koduah, described the championship as a powerful platform for youth development.
Tweneboah-Koduah noted that beyond basketball, the competition helps students build teamwork, confidence, discipline, and good character.
He added that the tournament’s 26-year journey reflects Milo’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians through sport.
The Nigeria School Sport Federation also praised Nestlé Nigeria’s long-standing support of grassroots sports.
NSSF President Olabisi Joseph described the partnership as unrivalled, highlighting how the championship has produced talents who have gone on to represent Nigeria at continental and international levels.
She said the competition has evolved into a national movement that promotes excellence, leadership, sportsmanship, and unity among young Nigerians.
This year’s finals will also feature mentorship programmes, basketball clinics, and cultural exhibitions, with organizers reaffirming that the championship is about more than winning trophies—it’s about shaping the next generation of leaders on and off the court.
