Wolverhampton Wanderers were forced to cancel a training session following a disagreement over Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare‘s involvement with the first team.
Tolu Arokodare has found himself at the centre of fresh controversy at Wolves after a reported training ground dispute led to the cancellation of a first-team session.
According to multiple reports in England, the incident occurred on Monday after Arokodare was instructed not to train with the first team.
The Nigerian forward allegedly refused to leave the training pitch, resulting in a stand-off that forced Wolves to abandon the scheduled session.
The club also introduced additional security measures at their Compton Park training ground following the confrontation.
He had informed Wolves earlier this summer that he wants to leave following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
Reports suggest Arokodare wants to continue his career in one of Europe’s top five leagues rather than play in the Championship.
Wolves, however, are in no rush to sanction his departure.
The club believed the value of the striker was at more than €20 million after rejecting approaches from interested clubs.
Italian Serie A side Fiorentina remain one of the contenders for his signature after seeing an initial offer turned down, while Turkish outfit Trabzonspor and Serie A club Genoa have also been credited with interest.
The latest incident is not the first disciplinary issue involving the Nigerian international.
In April, Arokodare was disciplined after becoming involved in a physical altercation with teammate Matheus Mane following Wolves’ 4-0 defeat to West Ham United.
The confrontation reportedly took place in the aftermath of the match and resulted in internal disciplinary action from the club.
Arokodare also endured a difficult first season in England after joining Wolves from Belgian side Genk in 2025.
He scored three goals in 33 Premier League appearances as Wolves struggled throughout the campaign before suffering relegation to the Championship.
The off-field issues come at a delicate time for Wolves, who are preparing for a new season under new head coach Cesar Peixoto.

Speaking during his first interview after taking charge, the Portuguese coach outlined the standards he expects from his players while emphasizing discipline, responsibility and togetherness.

“This is important to me, but I know very well what I want from the team. I want my team to be organised with and without the ball.
“Secondly, I want a team with intensity and to be aggressive and win duels.
“The third one is I want to show the quality of the players. To play an offensive game and to try and press high. To try and be the main character of the games. I want to win games, but I want to win while playing good football. With passion and energy.
“The supporters can expect a team with ambition. A strong character and identity and a strong idea of the game. A team that never gives up to win three points and to try and make the fans proud.”

The situation could also attract attention under FIFA’s recently introduced regulations aimed at preventing clubs from isolating contracted players to force transfers.
The rules stipulate that players should continue training with the first team unless there is a legitimate sporting or medical justification for their exclusion.
For now, his future at the club appears increasingly uncertain.
What began as transfer speculation has escalated into a public dispute, with his relationship with the club seemingly at its lowest point.
Unless a breakthrough is reached in negotiations with one of the clubs that are interested in him, the coming weeks are likely to determine whether Arokodare remains at Molineux .
