Two Nigerian stars took center stage in the Turkish Women’s Super League (WSL) on Sunday, as Glory Ogbonna and Taiwo Lawal found the net for their respective sides in Besiktas’ 2-1 victory over Unye Kadin.

The match saw Kome Fadimatou open the scoring for Besiktas in the 11th minute before Lawal equalized for Unye Kadin in the 31st minute, registering her fourth league goal of the season.

However, just when it seemed the game would end in a stalemate, Ogbonna delivered a last-gasp winner in the 90th minute, securing all three points for third-placed Besiktas.

The goal marked her first of the season for the Istanbul-based club.

League Standings & Next Fixtures

With this victory, Besiktas sit third in the league table with 40 points from 18 matches and will face Trabzonspor on March 9, 2025.

Meanwhile, Unye Kadin remain in 11th place with 14 points and will look to bounce back when they host Fatih Vatan Spor on the same date.
