Nigerian winger, Chidera Ejuke has thrown his support behind the Super Eagles ahead of this month’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Ejuke, who recently returned from injury, was named in Nigeria’s 39-man provisional squad but did not make the final 23-player list selected by head coach Eric Chelle.

Despite missing out, Ejuke remains optimistic about Nigeria’s chances and is backing his teammates to secure maximum points from both fixtures.

“We have a lot of players in Nigeria, and believe me, at the end of the day it’s the coach’s decision, and he knows what he’s doing,” Ejuke told Lacolina de Nervion.

“So, for me, if I get the opportunity to go there, I’ll always be happy to represent my country. I wish the boys the best and, obviously, I’ll be watching as well, and I hope they win the matches.”

Ejuke’s time at Sevilla has been a rollercoaster. The 27-year-old initially impressed after joining the Spanish side, establishing himself as a key player for Los Nervionenses.

However, just as he was hitting top form, a hamstring injury sidelined him for three months.

Since his return, Ejuke has been gradually regaining his rhythm. He scored the match-winning goal in Sevilla’s 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad last weekend and will be aiming to build on that when his side faces Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will travel to Kigali to face Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium on Friday, March 21, before returning home to take on Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, four days later.

Nigeria currently sits third in Group C with three points from four games and will need a strong performance in these qualifiers to boost their chances of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
