Nigerian forwards Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke featured for Sevilla in their 2-1 defeat against Real Betis in Sunday’s La Liga encounter at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

Adams was making only his second appearance for Sevilla, having previously featured once before suffering an injury that sidelined him for a spell.

The striker is still searching for his first goal for the club. Chidera Ejuke, on the other hand, was making his 19th appearance of the season.

Ejuke has contributed two goals and one assist so far and remains an important attacking option for Sevilla.

Both players were introduced in the second half as Sevilla pushed for an equalizer, hoping their fresh legs would make a difference in breaking down Betis’ defence.

The visitors made a strong start, taking the lead in the 17th minute through Matías Vargas. The goal silenced the home crowd momentarily and gave Sevilla early control of the game.

However, Real Betis responded swiftly as Youssouf Sabaly set up João Cardoso, who made no mistake in slotting home the equalizer.

The goal shifted momentum in Betis’ favor, as they began to dictate play in midfield and put Sevilla under pressure.

Just before halftime, Betis completed the turnaround. Former Real Madrid star Isco produced a moment of brilliance, threading a precise pass to Juanmi Hernández, who finished clinically in the 43rd minute.

The goal ensured Betis went into the break with a crucial 2-1 advantage.

Sevilla attempted to fight back in the second half, bringing on Adams and Ejuke to add attacking impetus.

Both players showed flashes of quality, but Betis remained compact at the back, frustrating the visitors with disciplined defensive play.

Despite Sevilla’s late push for an equalizer, Manuel Pellegrini’s men held firm to secure all three points.
