Ademola Lookman scored his first goal in seven games as Atalanta cruised to a 4–0 win over Monza on Sunday. This result bolstered their Champions League ambitions and confirmed Monza’s relegation.

The Nigerian winger put in one of his most complete performances of the season. Beyond his goal, he was a constant threat on the flank, completing five dribbles, swinging in 10 crosses, and involving himself heavily in attacking buildup.

Lookman’s return to form comes as Atalanta prepare for a tense finish to the Serie A campaign, with major European stakes on the line. His resurgence could not have come at a better time for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, who are in a fierce battle for Champions League qualification.

Ademola Lookman now heads into the season’s final stretch with renewed confidence.

Charles De Ketelaere opened the scoring with a first-half brace—his first Serie A goals since before Christmas—before Ademola Lookman and Marco Brescianini added well-taken goals after the interval.

The win lifted third-placed Atalanta five points ahead of Juventus, who settled for a draw against Bologna later in the evening.

With three matches remaining, Atalanta’s place in Europe’s elite competition is still not guaranteed, especially with fellow top-four contenders Roma set to visit Bergamo next weekend.

Champions League Race Heats Up

Roma, unbeaten in 18 Serie A matches under Claudio Ranieri, remain in contention and could leapfrog Lazio into fourth with a win over Fiorentina. Lazio earlier edged Empoli 1–0 thanks to a quick strike from Boulaye Dia in a match that saw both sides reduced to 10 men.

Juve, Lazio, Bologna, and Roma are all still vying for the final two Champions League slots. Lazio host Juventus next weekend in a potentially decisive clash, while sixth-placed Bologna also remain in the mix, trailing Lazio by just one point.

Meanwhile, Napoli and Inter Milan are comfortably ahead in the standings, with the Scudetto now a two-horse race.

Monza’s Fall Confirmed

For Monza, the loss spelled the end of their time in Serie A. The club, owned by the Berlusconi family, now returns to Serie B after three seasons in the top division. They sit 12 points adrift of safety following Lecce’s narrow defeat to Napoli.

ELSEWHERE IN EUROPE: Super Eagles Weekend Round-Up

Moses Simon (Nantes)
Simon played 90 minutes but was unable to help Nantes avoid a 1–0 home defeat to fellow relegation battlers Angers. The Super Eagles winger, fourth in Ligue 1 for assists, is now without a goal contribution in five matches.

Frank Onyeka (Augsburg)
Despite an industrious display, Onyeka’s Augsburg lost 3-1 to Holstein Kiel. The midfielder had 67 touches, one key pass, and contributed solid defensive numbers including two tackles and two interceptions.

Nathan Tella & Victor Boniface (Bayer Leverkusen)
Tella made a late impact off the bench, assisting the dramatic 93rd-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw against Freiburg. Boniface missed out due to a thigh injury, but Tella’s contribution ensured Leverkusen salvaged a point.

Leon Balogun & Cyriel Dessers (Rangers)
Balogun delivered a veteran performance in defence, while Dessers struck his 25th goal of the season in a 1–1 draw with Celtic in the Old Firm derby.

Dessers now has 31 goal contributions in all competitions. Rangers, however, are winless in four league games and trail Celtic by 17 points.

Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray)
Osimhen added two more goals to his tally in a 4-1 win over Sivasspor, taking his season total to 33—surpassing his title-winning campaign with Napoli. His form has been key in Galatasaray’s pursuit of the Süper Lig title.
