Liverpool vs Real Madrid – Familiar Foes, New Faces

Tuesday, 4 November – 21:00 GMT | Anfield Stadium

After years of torment at the hands of Los Blancos, the Reds finally broke their curse last season with a 2–0 win at Anfield.

Now, a new chapter unfolds under Arne Slot against a resurgent Madrid led by former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Star player, Mohamed Salah sits two goals away from becoming the first African player to reach 50 Champions League goals, a milestone that would etch his name even deeper into football folklore.

Slot’s side were fortunate to edge Aston Villa at the weekend, securing only their second win in eight matches, yet optimism remains high ahead of another famous Anfield night.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Slot addressed the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who left Liverpool for Real Madrid in the summer:

“I can only tell you what reception he [Trent] gets from me. I have great memories of the player and human, my vice-captain,” said Slot.

“I watched him in front of the television and only great memories of him in a Liverpool shirt. He will get a warm welcome from me, but let’s see how our fans react.”

“A warm welcome from me, that is for certain.”

Liverpool will be without Isak, Alisson, and Frimpong, all ruled out through injury.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have been nearly unstoppable. Alonso’s side are top of LaLiga and have won 13 of their last 14 matches across all competitions.

Jude Bellingham continues to sparkle, while Vinícius Jr and Rodrygo spearhead an attack brimming with pace and precision.

PSG vs Bayern Munich – The Champions Face Their Biggest Test

Tuesday, 4 November – 21:00 GMT | Parc des Princes

The reigning champions PSG host Bayern Munich in a clash that promises goals and fireworks. This rematch of the 2020 final pits two of Europe’s five unbeaten sides against each other.

Luis Enrique’s PSG are thriving, unbeaten at home in Europe for years and buoyed by the return of Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The Parisians sit top of their group with nine points, and whispers of a back-to-back title run are growing louder.

Bayern, under Vincent Kompany, are equally formidable. They’ve won 15 straight matches in all competitions, with Harry Kane scoring 11 goals in his last 10 UCL appearances.

Bavarian captain and midfielder, Joshua Kimmich is set for his 100th Champions League appearance.

Few fixtures in modern football evoke as much drama as Liverpool vs Real Madrid, hence, this is a meeting of two attacking titans, and with both sides in ruthless form, something has to give in Paris.

Club Brugge vs Barcelona – Tricky Trip for the Catalans

Wednesday, 5 November – 21:00 GMT | Jan Breydel Stadium

Barcelona face a potential banana skin in Belgium against a Club Brugge side unbeaten in 17 of their last 18 European home games.

The Catalans, dazzling in their 6–1 win over Olympiakos but shaky defensively in defeat to PSG, will be without Gavi and Lewandowski.

That means the spotlight falls on teenage sensation Lamine Yamal and young defender Pau Cubarsí to deliver.

Manchester City vs Borussia Dortmund – Haaland’s Homecoming

Wednesday, 5 November – 21:00 GMT | Etihad Stadium

All eyes will be on Erling Haaland as he faces his former club, Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian’s record is staggering 37 goals in just 33 Champions League group-stage appearances, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Pep Guardiola’s City are unbeaten in 22 home Champions League matches since 2018 and have never lost at home to German opposition in the competition.

However, they’ve managed only six goals in three UCL games, raising questions about creativity beyond Haaland.

“Haaland is playing at Messi and Ronaldo’s levels,” Guardiola said ahead of the tie.

“His mentality, his hunger, it’s something special.”

Dortmund arrive in superb attacking form, scoring four goals in each of their last three European games — a club record. Yet domestically, they’ve struggled, netting just once in each of their last five Bundesliga fixtures.

Newcastle United vs Athletic Club – Fortress St James’ Tested

Wednesday, 5 November – 21:00 GMT | St James’ Park

For Newcastle United, this is a must-win under the lights at St James’ Park. The Magpies have won four straight home matches and remain unbeaten in their last four European games on Tyneside.

Manager Eddie Howe will hope the home crowd once again provides the spark after a disappointing loss at West Ham.

However, he confirmed Anthony Gordon was withdrawn early due to a “lingering hip issue,” putting his participation in doubt.

Athletic Club, without Iñaki Williams due to injury, have only one win in nine European away games against English sides, but the emergence of Nico Williams provides a glimmer of hope for the Basque visitors.

2025/26 UEFA Champions League, Matchday 4

Arteta’s Arsenal Eye Perfection in Prague

Slavia Praha vs Arsenal – Tuesday, 4 November – 18:45 GMT

Arsenal head into Prague looking to extend a historic run, six consecutive wins in October without conceding. The Gunners top both the Premier League and their UCL group, with three wins from three in Europe.

Mikel Arteta’s men, however, will be without striker Viktor Gyökeres, who suffered an injury in the 2–0 weekend win over Burnley.

“Gyökeres is definitely not available,” Arteta confirmed in his pre-match press conference.

Slavia, unbeaten in five and boasting three straight clean sheets, will rely on home resilience to end a 17-match winless run in the Champions League dating back to 2007.

 Chelsea Return to Azerbaijan

Qarabağ vs Chelsea – Wednesday, 5 November – 18:45 GMT

Chelsea travel to Baku for the first time since their 2019 Europa League triumph, hoping to build on back-to-back European wins.

Enzo Maresca’s men crushed Ajax 5–1 last time out, a match that made history as the first in Champions League history to feature three teenage scorers for one team.

Qarabağ, however, are no pushovers, with an identical record to Chelsea (two wins, one loss) this season. Yet the Azerbaijanis have never beaten an English club in seven attempts.
