Former Nigerian winger, Garba Lawal says he’s optimistic Sierra Leone will not survive Super Eagles onslaught in the forthcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Nigeria will trade tackles with Lone Star of Sierra Leone in the Matchday 5 of the qualifier at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia on Sunday, 18 June, as Sierra Leone do not have any stadium in their country approved for international matches.
The Super Eagles are top of their qualification group with nine points out of four matches, followed by Guinea Bissau’s Wild Dogs who have seven points.
Leone Stars are third on five points while Sao Tome and Principe, who play the Super Eagles on the final day of the series in September, are bottom with only one point.
Reacting ahead of the game, Lawal in a chat with Completesports.com, said that Sierra Leone will only talk tough but will succumb to the firepowers of the Super Eagles.
“I expect nothing but victory against Sierra Leone on Sunday. Yes, they have been talking tough but then, they know it will be difficult to overcome Nigeria.
“I am delighted with the early arrival of the invited players and I know the three points will be enough to qualify Nigeria for AFCON.”
