A look back at the key moments in Liverpool’s hard fought draw with Nottingham Forest in Premier League action.
Nottingham Forest 1 – 1 Liverpool FC
Bane of Slot’s Existence: Wood 8’
Reds: Jota 66’
Pre-Match
This will probably be a tough one, especially with Forest killer Darwin unavailable. Forest got the better of Liverpool earlier in the campaign, and Arne Slot will not let anyone forget it. Forest have built their impressive points haul on a solid defensive foundation, so scoring first will definitely be key if Liverpool want to leave with all three points.
First Half
Well, this is precisely the kind of match where it would be really good not to concede first. So, naturally, we concede first. And the goalkeeper is already falling on it less than a minute later. This will be a long 90 minutes.
This has to be up there with one of the worst halves this season. Liverpool have been disjointed and lacking composure all over the pitch. Hopefully Slot can surgically remove their heads from their asses at halftime.
Second Half
Liverpool started the second half a lot like they started (bad), but started finally growing into the match around the hour mark. Still haven’t looked like scoring, mind, but you know, baby steps.
DIOGO JOTA SCORES WITH HIS VERY FIRST TOUCH! Slot had just brought on Jota and Tsimikas for Robertson and Konate, and the pair make an instant impact. Tsimikas sends in a dangerous corner with his first touch, and Jota nods it home. GAME ON.
With fifteen minutes to go, Jones comes on for Luis Diaz.
The match has opened up considerably after Jones came on. There might just be a winner out there yet for the Reds.
Or not.
Final Thoughts
Slot will be glad to not see these again in the Premier League the rest of the way in. They produced a much better second half than the first, which isn’t saying much, but it was a good point under tough conditions, all things considered.
