Sights set for a return — but not quite yet

After being forced off with injury against Bournemouth last weekend, Trent Alexander-Arnold remains sidelined ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup tie against Plymouth on Sunday.

While head coach Arne Slot has refused to say for certain whether the vice-captain will be in contention for the derby next week, he did stress care over speed when it comes to injuries:

“Difficult to say [about the derby]. Like I said before, it’s not going to take months and not even weeks but that’s only three days after the Plymouth Argyle game, so let’s wait and see if he is available.

“We also have to look at the long term, of course we don’t want to take any risks with so many games afterwards coming up. But if he’s fit then of course we will use him.”

Tyler Morton, who would have liked to feature against Plymouth, is unfortunately sidelined as well with an injury that will keep him from the side for a period of weeks or longer.
