Nigeria’s para-badminton sensation Eniola Bolaji has once again proven why she is a global force in the sport.

The Nigerian star stormed to victory at the 2025 Spanish Para-Badminton International II in Vitoria, Spain, capturing the gold medal in emphatic fashion.

The women’s singles SL3 final was a masterclass in precision, power, and tactical brilliance as Bolaji overpowered Ukraine’s world No. 4 Oksana Kozyna with a dominant 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) victory.

While the win secured her the championship title, it also reinforced her dominance over Kozyna, marking her fourth win in their last five encounters.

Bolaji’s road to gold was nothing short of spectacular. From the opening rounds, she asserted her supremacy with back-to-back straight-set victories.

Group Stage: She crushed Brazil’s Kauana Michelson Beckenka and France’s Caroline Bergeron without dropping a set.

Quarterfinals: Australia’s Celine Vinot was no match for Bolaji’s speed and agility, as the Nigerian star stormed to a 2-0 (21-8, 21-12) win.

Semifinals: In a much-anticipated battle, Bolaji dismantled India’s Neeraj with a clinical 2-0 (21-12, 21-6) triumph, proving she was in a league of her own.

With each match, Bolaji’s confidence grew, setting up a fierce final showdown against her familiar Ukrainian rival, Kozyna.

From the first rally, it was clear Bolaji had no intention of letting this one slip away.

A Step Closer to World No. 1

Currently ranked world No. 2, Bolaji’s latest victory brings her within touching distance of the coveted world No. 1 spot.

Her ruthless efficiency, relentless drive, and ability to crush top-ranked opponents have made her a serious contender for the top ranking.

Interestingly, it marks her second international gold medal in just two months.

Nigerian Federation Reacts: “This Is Just the Beginning”

Following Bolaji’s stunning victory, Francis Orbih, President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, showered praise on the 20-year-old athlete, calling her performance “a statement to the world”.

“Bolaji’s victory is a testament to her dedication and her rising dominance on the world para-badminton stage.”

“This gold is her second in just two months, and it shows that our athletes are capable of competing at the highest level.”

A New Era for Nigerian Para-Badminton

Bolaji’s meteoric rise has placed Nigeria on the global para-badminton map.

With her eyes now set on the world No. 1 ranking, Bolaji is far from done.

As she prepares for future international competitions, it should be known that she is a champion on a mission.
