Liverpool host West Ham on Sunday after losing to Fulham in the league
Though Mohamed Salah signing a new contract was the major news of the day, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot also provided a positive fitness update ahead of his squad’s Premier League match on Sunday against West Ham United.
Alisson Becker is set to return for the Reds in goal following a brief stint on the sidelines with a concussion picked up in a collision on international duty at the end of last month.
The Brazilian missed the two matches following the international break but is available for selection on Sunday.
Conor Bradley, who returned from his own injury layoff in the closing half hour against Fulham, is also in contention for a full 90.
Midfielder Curtis Jones had filled in at right back while both Conor Bradley and Trent Alexander-Arnold were sidelined, and Slot looks forward to being able to select a player in their preferred position:
“Of course it’s a boost, it’s always a boost when quality players come back. Especially quality players in that position, because I think Curtis Jones is a quality player but it’s not his favorite position.
“So to have a player in his favorite position is always — not always — but might be better for the team. And Conor [Bradley] has done so well for us this season, just like Trent [Alexander-Arnold]. But when Trent then isn’t there, you always hope to look behind you and see that Conor is available.
“But then if he isn’t, we have to solve that problem. And we are not the only team in this league that has had these problems. We’ve tried to bring the best out of it.
“That worked really well against Everton. I think Curtis played well also against Fulham. Of course he was involved in the goal but you can ask yourself the question if he could do so much about that. He did it quite well to very well, in my opinion, for two times.
“But now to have Conor back, I think we all would make the same decision and that’s playing Conor in that position.”
