The player is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in the country and is under contract until June 2027. According to Douglas, Merseyside rivals Everton, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Tottenham are in the running to sign him. Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United are also considered teams who have scouted him long-term. Offers in the summer are believed to be inevitable for the 17-year-old, with his price tag anticipated to be well more than £30m.
Rigg has been a mainstay for Sunderland in the Championship this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in 38 appearances, helping the Black Cats to fourth in the league and with a play-off spot within reach.
Should Sunderland fail to secure promotion, a move to a Premier League side seems like an absolute certainty.
