Former Nigerian midfielder, Oluwaseyi Olofinjana revealed that he initially didn’t want his two sons to pursue football professionally.
Speaking exclusively to Brila.net Olofinjana said, “Football is a tough sport. Waking up early, training, running—it’s all demanding. You play football because you love it, not just because others are doing it.”

He admitted that while he discouraged them at first, their passion for the game eventually won him over.

“I never wanted them to play football, but their love for the game is evident. It’s a joy to watch them grow in it,” he added.

His first son, Femi (20), currently plays as a Center-Back for Birmingham City on loan from West Bromwich Albion, while his second son (12) is part of Coventry City’s youth setup.

When asked whether he would like his son Femi to represent Nigeria at the national level, Olofinjana responded, “He has every right to play for Nigeria. If the country believes he’s good enough, then why not?”

Despite his father’s legacy with the Super Eagles, Femi has chosen to represent Norway, where he was born during Olofinjana’s stint with SK Brann in 2004.
