Liverpool chase after midfielder Xavi Simons.
Last summer very little happened in head coach Arne Slot’s first Liverpool transfer window and even less in the winter transfer window. A year later, and with one successful season almost in the bag, attention has turned back to the transfer rumours to speculate on whether this will be the one to get Slot’s stamp on it.
Speculation has turned to midfielder Xavi Simons. The Dutch star spent the 2023-24 season and and a half of this current one on loan from PSG to RB Leipzig Leipzig before moving there permanently in January. The move only keeps Simons until 2027.
If Slot wants him in his squad, he reportedly faces competition from both Manchester United and Bayern Munich in the race to nab the player.
His price tag is said to be around £68 million, an amount that the Reds and his other admirers are willing to meet. The question is if acquiring an attacking midfielder is that high on their list of priorities to fill in the gaps in the squad.
