Nigeria’ Flying Eagles star, Adamu Maigari has expressed heartfelt gratitude to God and the Nigerian fans after helping Nigeria secure third place at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a crucial victory over host nation Egypt.
The dynamic midfielder, who was named Man of the Match, played a pivotal role in the 2-0 win and was full of appreciation for the unwavering support shown by fans throughout the tournament.
“We are happy—like we took the third place and at least we can go back home with something else,” Maigari said after the game.
A Thank You to the Fans
Adamu Maigari acknowledged that the journey wasn’t easy and praised Nigerians for believing in the team even when the odds were stacked against them.
“We thank them for their prayers, for not giving up on us,” he added.
“We really appreciate their prayers day and night.”
Eyes on the Future
While delighted with the bronze medal, Maigari believes the Flying Eagles are capable of achieving even more—with continued fan support and belief.
“We can do more with the constant support of the fans.”
The result is regardless a positive end for Nigeria at the tournament as they take with them one of the 2025 U-20 World Cup Ticket which will take place later in the year.
