A new young goalkeeper is headed to Liverpool, and will hope to follow Caoimhín Kelleher’s footsteps

Liverpool on Saturday confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Ármin Pécsi from Hungarian top flight side Puskas Akademia. The Hungarian youth international featured 30 times as his side secured a second place finish in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I league, and was a nominee for the 2025 Golden Boy award — hopefully suggestive of a promising career to come.

Pésci will arrive to a friendly face in Hungarian captain Dominik Szoboszlai. While the young goalkeeper is yet to make a senior appearance for his country, a shared language at the training ground is always nice for an ease in the transition.

Pésci will become the fifth goalkeeper on Liverpool’s books, with Alisson, Vítězslav Jaroš, and Scouser Harvey Davies, who is yet to make a first team appearance. Giorgi Mamardashvili will also join Liverpool this summer in a pre-agreed transfer dating back to 2024.

While it is expected that Mamardashvili will become Alisson’s main cover, with new arrivals (and progression in-club) nothing is set.
