The Premier League has launched a new Hall of Fame, and are looking for fan votes to select the next round of inductees

Did you know that the Premier League has a Hall of Fame? No? Neither did I. That’s because there was no Premier League Hall of Fame until today.

The Premier League Hall of Fame (presented by Budweiser) was created as “a place for celebration, admiration and nostalgia” as well as “for moments made famous and players famous for having made them”. Apparently nostalgia, great moments, and great players only go as far back as 1992, as it appears that there will be no mention of the former First Division in England. The idea was initially announced in February of 2020, but the proposed opening in March of 2020 was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Today it was announced that the new Hall of Fame is now officially open…as a website. To create the inaugural class, the Premier League decided to induct two players right off the bat, and then have fans vote on a series of additional nominees. Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry were the first two through the virtual door. There are an additional 23 nominees, with 6 to be selected to make up an 8 man class.

Manchester United lead the way for nominees, with 9 on the list. Liverpool FC have three former greats nominated — Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, and Michael Owen. You can see the full list of nominees and vote for up to six players through May 9 at the link below: https://www.premierleague.com/hall-of-fame/nominees
