Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti says Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen and Belgium forward, Dries Mertens could start together in their next Serie A game against Roma.
Napoli play Roma on Monday in an important game for both sides as the Partonepei continue striving so hard to win their third Scudetto. And Roma led by Jose Mourinho, are fighting to earn an European spot.
In a press conference Spalletti spoke about the clamouring of fans who want Osimhen and Mertens to start against Roma.
“It’s possible, they’ve already played, even in the second half against Fiorentina – there were Mertens and Osimhen,” Spalletti started.
“When the game was even, they were there, then in some moments we stretched and there were the two of them.
“Are the fans asking for it?
“There also, the ones at the university, where they’ve been, everyone wrote it differently, then one changed the formation too.
“Can you give me your formation? Insigne, Mertens, Lozano and Osimhen and behind Lobotka and Anguissa?
“You still leave out important people like Zielinski and Fabian.”
Napoli are currently third in the Serie A with 66 points from 32 games.
