As part of the previously announced Asian tour for their preseason for the 2025/2026 season, Liverpool FC will play J. League team Yokohama F. Marinos at Yokohama’s Nissan Stadium on 30 July. The venue, which seats more than 70,000, was also the venue of 2002 World Cup final.
Prior to that, Liverpool will face AC Milan on July 26 in the first soccer match to be played at Hong Kong’s new 50,000-capacity Kai Tak Stadium.
These games will lead to the new Premier League season kick-off on August 16.
It should be a nice moment for Japanese captain Wataru Endo when Liverpool touch down in Japan. Yokohama are now managed by Gareth Southgate’s former England assistant, Steve Holland, also have some Liverpool links of their own. They were the runners-up in last season’s AFC Champions League when former Liverpool player Harry Kewell managed them.
